I'm a registered Republican. However, my allegiance is not to the party or its symbol - the elephant. Registered Democrats shouldn't be beholden to its symbol either - the donkey.

It is wrong to blindly support a person, a party or some group just because they have a 'R' or 'D' or 'I' next to their name.

For me, it's principles over party. When you speak the truth, people will listen - and come to you. When you stand up for your value system and act accordingly, people take notice. Too often, we vote for elected officials and then lose interest in their actions after being sworn into office. It is our duty to hold our elected officials to the highest of standards as well as holding them accountable for their promises made during election cycles.

No matter what your gripe of the day is about this nation, remember that God has guided our nation in the past and He will guide us now. The political parties are not the answer. This greatest of all nations is still His magnificent cause, and the only thing we can do now is put our faith, trust and allegiance to Him.

It's better to put our trust in Jesus - The Lamb of God - then some old donkey or elephant.

Dear Tim, Our country has a two party system, and I agree with you that we shouldn't vote for someone because they have an R or D behind their name. However, one of those two parties, is directly against God. Number one - abortion. I believe God created all life. Number two - class warfare is sin against the 10th commandment. Not only that, taking from one group of people is stealing and giving to another group of people on a regular basis is enslavement. Number 3 - Gay marriage is a perversion of what God intended for the people he created and loves. And these three things are written in the Democratic national party platform. And so, if you vote for a nice person who happens to have a D behind their name, and they work their way through to become a national candidate, these 3 things they will always push for no matter what they say.
