1. A leap second will be added to the clocks tonight at 7:59:59 eastern tonight to account for a change in the Earth's rotation. What will you do with that second?
2. If you have accepted Jesus as your Savior, it's time that you start caring more about others people's souls then your own.
3. Love this quote from Bishop TD Jakes: "We need to start reaching out to all types of people and preaching to them and ministering to them and sharing our faith with them. I don't mean on Sunday morning. I mean in the mall, I mean in the grocery store, I mean while you're getting your hair done. It's time for you to be a real Christian."
4. As I read the Bible, I believe that the act of a man lying with a man or a woman lying with a woman is a sin in God's eyes. Intimacy is a vital part of marriage. With that said, by allowing gay marriage, the US Supreme Court acknowledged that sinning is OK. When a government or a court can dictate to its citizens what is right and wrong or what is a sin or isn't, the government has usurped God's legitimacy. This is my belief. I will never tell anyone how to live their life. Hate me. Like me. Call me a bigot. Accuse me of homophobia. I really don't care. But, know this. I am a sinner too and I struggle each day and need God's grace.
5 Have you heard of this US Supreme Court decision issued yesterday? The Court refused to consider letting states require evidence of citizenship when people register to vote for federal elections, leaving in tact a decision by a US agency that blocked the states from requiring proof of citizenship. Therefore, people registering to vote in next year's Presidential election don't have to be a US citizen. I'm at a loss for words for this.
6. Jude 1:17-22: "But, dear friends. Remember what the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ foretold. They said to you, "in the last times there will be scoffers who will follow their own ungodly desires. These are the people who divide you who follow mere natural instincts and do not have the Spirit. But, you, dear friends, by building yourselves up in your most holy faith and praying in the Holy Spirit, keep yourselves in God's love as you wait for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to bring you to eternal life."
7. By the way, my position is and always has been that government has no business being in the marriage business. If two people want to say that they are married, then so be it...I cannot tell them otherwise. To me, Biblical marriage is different from governmental marriage.
8. As chairman of the Lititz July 4th committee (www.lititz4thofjuly.com), the one thing I look forward to each year is just talking to people and thanking them for coming to the event that supports our beloved park. People - no matter their beliefs - are all valuable to me, even the ones who don't agree with me. We as Christians must make investments in people.
9. ISIS is offering captured female sex slaves as a prize in a contest to mark the Muslim holy month of Ramadan. ISIS publicly drops gays from rooftops. And yet, here in the US, we have parades proclaiming 'love wins'. If ISIS comes to the shores of the US, who do you think they will come for first? All lives matter.
10. So, why is that people hate the police when they make an error in judgement or create an unfortunate incident, but when they capture and kill two escaped convicts or capture an evil man who gunned down 9 innocent lives, they are praised? People are looking for any issue to advance their movement regardless of the circumstances.
11. Churches are now concerned that because of the Gay Marriage decision, that their non-profit status might be in jeopardy. Even if that happens, I am sure that money will come in from its congregants to pay the taxes. I wonder what would happen to our property tax rates if non-profits were to start paying taxes? If we as a society want equality, then we should want equality in everything, like paying taxes. In other words, everyone should be required to contribute - rich, poor, property owner, renters, etc.
