Thought - There has been much talk and debate lately about raising the federal minimum wage from its current amount of $7.25 to $10.10 so that Americans who work for this wage are able to meet basic needs. If $10.10 will meet someone's basic needs, why not raise it to $13.45 so that they will have some extra money to spend on their families? And, if $13.45 will get you some "extras", why not level the playing field and have the minimum wage set at $50.00 an hour so that everyone can own an iPhone and live very comfortably? If we are becoming a society based upon equality, shouldn't society or government make sure that everyone earns the same wage?
Question – Who in today's society is most responsible to make sure that workers can meet their basic needs: government, employers/ businesses/companies or the employee? Why?
