Why Should I Believe Them?

As I write this post, the national weather service issued a winter storm warning for Sunday into Monday. If you believe the forecasts, then we can see 1-6 inches of the white stuff on the ground when we wake up for work and school on Monday morning.  Last week, these same forecasters predicted up to 3 foot of snow for New York City. Because only four inches fell in the Big Apple, the television weathermen and other visible forecasters took a beating for their inept predicting of the weather all up and down the talk radio dial as well as by the late night comedians. Its hard to understand that with all of today's technology, modeling and historical trends that weathermen struggle to accurately forecast a storm, even 10 hours before it was to hit the east coast. However, they do struggle. A lot. Sometimes they are right.  Most times, they are wrong, mocked and not believed.

If these weather scientists, climatologists, etc.,  can't predict the weather when it is happening, how can these same scientists predict the state of our Earth in 50 years?  In other words, these same prognosticators who can't get the weather right when they are standing in it, tell me that because I drive an SUV that the Earth's temperature will rise so much so that the polar ice caps will melt away. And if I don't believe them, then I am the one that is laughed at and ridiculed.  If they can't articulate why a storm moved 3 degrees west at the last moment to produce no snow, then how can they predict global warming, global climate change or any other global change?   That is the question I wanted answered.
  • BELIEVE that we are stewards of what God has given us, so therefore ACT accordingly and do everything in moderation so that we can SERVE others instead of serving the Earth.

Great reflections and questions...it could be applied to many more "truths" that we are to accept without question...thank you!
